teaching philosophy.

There are two distinct languages. There is verbal, which separates people…and there is visual that unites people because it is understood by everybody. Art is the universal language of the world and can be viewed and interpreted by everyone.  All students can thrive in art even if they are ELL because art is such a visual subject.  There is no “normal” in art or distinct guidelines to what is considered "good art" or who is a better artist because everyone views art in their own creative way. This is exactly why I love art and I love teaching art.

I have the ability to relate to people of all ages and love to inspire people to dive into their imaginations to create pure and personal artworks.  In my classroom there is no pressure of being right or wrong but students are encouraged to take risks and explore their individual identity. My classroom is free of judgment; encouraging identity exploration and acceptance, open to diverse ideas and welcoming diverse discussions. Encouragement to be different and exceed the boundaries of what is “normal” will be key in my classroom environment.
